Allen Soil and Water Conservation District to Host Drone 

Demo

Allen SWCD is offering a free drone demonstration of the 

district’s newly acquired drones, a DJI Matrice 350, which is 

equipped with a LIDAR scanning and inspection cameras, and a 

DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral which is used to assess crop health 

and nutrient status. 

This program will cover drone safety, features of the drones, 

and an explanation of how surveying with a drone is 

accomplished. In addition, participants will be able to see a real 

survey mission in action, viewing what the pilot sees in real 

time. 

The drone demonstrations will be held on Thursday, November

th, from 2 pm to 3 pm, and Saturday, November 8th, from 10 

am to 11 am. To register for this free program, contact the 

district’s drone pilot Josh Zwez. Registration is not required but 

strongly encouraged. The demonstration will be rescheduled in 

the event of strong wind, rain, or snow. 

Allen SWCD currently offers Multispectral Scanning of crop 

fields. Use of the LIDAR system and Videography is limited to 

Governmental agencies.
