About Us

The Salvation Army is a nonprofit charitable and religious organization that has been meeting human and spiritual needs in the Lima Allen County community since 1888 when Captain Hitchens, his wife and Lieutenant Carter arrived in Lima.

Today, we provide a variety of programs and services that continue our mission of serving others. Programs and services include:

Emergency Assistance - Help with Food, Rent and Utilities, Sunday Community Feeding Program, After-School Program - Recreation, Education, Hot meal after school, Student Food Pantry – Partnership with WOFB & Lima Senior, Christmas Assistance/ Toy for Tots / Coat Give-A-Way -Includes: Angel Tree, Adopt-a-Family & Adopt-a-Stocking Programs, Back to School Supplies - Partnership with Lima City Schools, Summer Day Camp – Local / Summer Camp – Regional, Special Programs – Includes: Garage Sale & Donation Pickups, National Donut Day, King Car Show, etc., Adult Rehabilitation Centers – Regional, and Disaster Relief – Local, Regional and National response to disasters.
