About Us

Not having a way to get around the city for work or having the necessities to do so holds too many people back in life. Larry & Ginny were interested in starting a missional service, and in connecting with people in Lima, especially people in financial need.

Larry and Ginny Cress took that desire to help people and formed The Wheelhouse in 2017, a Christian cooperative that provides those without a driver's license a free bicycle, helmet, and lock, then teaches them how to safely ride it, adjust it, and take care of it.

The Wheelhouse has a bike repair station outside with tools and a tire pump that is free to use 24/7. But their clients are getting more out of their time with Larry and Ginny Cress and their volunteers than just a new ride. Many of the people they serve are struggling with things other than transportation, so while they learn to swap a chain, they can also talk through their problems and reconnect with their faith.
