Church on the Rock is proud to announce the opening of Maddy’s Corner, a Pay It Forward / Pay As You Can café in downtown Lima.
 
Maddy’s Corner is named after Madyson Snyder, who passed away in a tragic car accident in 2021. She was a 17-year-old girl who attended Church on the Rock and was a core member of the Solid Rock Youth group. Madyson was known for her love for music, aesthetics, coffee, and her loyal and unwavering friendship. She also struggled with mental health but found hope in perseverance and relationships. Her family has dedicated this space to anyone who needs a space to find the same hope Madyson found and to anyone who wants to share a cup of coffee with those who matter.
 
This café has a Pay It Forward / Pay As You Can business structure. Any member of the community can come in and order a drink and a snack. Whatever you want to pay, you can, even if it’s nothing at all. If you pay $5 for your drink and snack, you cover the cost of the next person who might need the pick-me-up. We chose this business structure to make helping others in need and getting a coffee accessible to everyone.
 
This café space will also be used by the Solid Rock Youth group of Church on the Rock. The youth will have a safe space to have fun, grow in their faith, receive mentoring, volunteer at the café, and learn job skills. We plan to host community events in the café as well, creating even more opportunities for connection, joy, and empowerment in the Lima area.
 
We thank Activate Allen County, the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, Midwest Electric, and all those who have supported the launch of Maddy’s Corner. With the backing of this community, our vision of a warm and inviting environment available to all has come to fruition.
 
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, June 13^th at noon, courtesy of the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce.
 
Starting June 15^th, Maddy’s Corner will be open Thursday and Friday, 7-10 am and 3-5 pm, and Sunday mornings before service. Hours will expand as staffing increases.
